[Tango] Fwd: Free tango lesson and music jam with Homer and Christina Ladas

Hello Everyone,

In addition to the workshops with Homer and Christina Ladas coming up this
weekend, we've got a special event planned at the University of Minnesota.
 The event is centered around dancing to and playing live tango music.  If
you play a musical instrument or sing, come out and join us.  All dancers
welcome for the class and to dance during the tango jam.

Tango Music Jam and Dance Class Event
Free and open to the public

When: Monday, March 23.
Class 4:30-6pm
Jam 7-9pm.
Free catered food and practice/social time between events.
Where:  "The Whole" at Coffman Memorial Union (basement level), East Bank
campus of the U of MN, 300 Washington Ave SE, Minneapolis MN 55445.

More info:  The tango class topic is "Selective Hearing" - Sorting out and
emphasizing 4 categories of musical expression we most often use in tango
including rhythm, melody, transitions, and lyrics.

The music jam will start at 7pm. This is a 2-hour free session where all
interested folks can gather to play music or listen to musician’s learn how
to play and interpret mostly rhythmic tango music (from various orchestras
of the Golden Age).  Spectators and non-musicians are welcome to attend and
often benefit from watching. Feel free to get up and dance!  For general

This event is free thanks to grants from the University of Minnesota School
of Music and the College of Liberal Arts and by support from the Argentine
Tango Club.  A special thanks to Sabine Ibes and Social Dance Studio for
bringing Homer and Christina to the Twin Cities!

The nearest parking is in the East River Road Garage.  From inside the
garage, take the elevator or stairs to Floor A and follow the signs to
Coffman Union.  "The Whole" is on the basement level.
