Visit my website, and let me know what you think of the new design!
www.mndance.com. The colors are borrowed from the Argentine flag, and the
background some of you may recognize from Buenos Aires subway tiles. Nice
pictures, too, and it should be much easier to navigate.
Milonga month has passed again, no more until August, so we are back to
tango as usual. If you've been wondering when to start, this is great time!
I hope to do a lot of work with the ocho cortado, plus spend more time with
some cool secadas this month. And, of course, whatever it is I see you need!
Don't forget our class for leaders only, Leader's Technique. This class is
quite an eye-opener! Drop in a few times and see if it doesn't give you some
new insights. 7:00 Thursday.
Wednesday: Westtango class went really well! We had a lot of fun and
everybody loved it!.. Don't be worried if you miss a class, you won't fall
behind. We will be playing with cool new moves every week. 8:00 Wed at Old
Arizona. Come in through the cafe - that's where we sing people up.

For your amusement:
I liked this story that I read in El Tangauta, a tango magazine I picked up
in in Buenos Aires. I'll print the rest next week:
Loneliness
Well, here you have two lonelinesses, sharing a well-chatted coffee. In my
loneliness, there are several badly danced tangos. Some women to whom I gave
much less than they deserved, and others to whom I offered the chance to do
harm to me without realizing, so that the tango soul could entertain itself
and keep its dark areas alive.
The first night we saw each other I was dazzled. I don’t know whether it was
your elegance, your look, the way you danced, how you gave yourself in your
embrace or whatever it was, but I said to myself, she is different, she is
one of those milongueras who are born on February 29.
The milonga woman is unique, she sensitively alters your tender system in a
well-danced tanda., and that is precisely the first memory of our first
shared tanda. I know we met in a time when I stumbled over the coast and I
was nearly in the middle of the river, adrift in the current, but even then
I never belonged to the one who took me, I know what I want and sometimes I
know how to get it. Not always, as you may realize but I couldn’t help
trying it, the dumb would not accept a new excuse, nor the pain of ignoring
if what it was not tried was possible. The milonga gives you the chance of
color or dozen bet, repeating moves every 12 or 15 minutes in no less than
twenty five balls, it keeps you amused and sometimes you can win something.
I must admit I played like this some time. Today I bet on crown, on full
numbers.
I was also part of the messy group who dances for the sake of dancing to
avoid sitting, and I would say they do it all right, but if you know them a
bit it is noticeable that tangos are outside them and do not caress them;
anyhow they danced, so as not to feel they have given in, out of the party,
as no doubt they would in life. I also danced like this, receiving something
and giving almost nothing, with out involving feelings, leaving passion on
the table expecting the curtain or the chance of a new attempt.
