We're back to a regular schedule! Back to fall, back to tango, ready to hit it! In Tuesday classes, we will be investigating the many types of crosadas, how to lead them well and follow them reliably, and how to make them feel beautiful. As with every class, we also look at how to use them on the floor, and when to use them to the music.
During Milonga month, I told my advanced class to be careful about using their tango moves in milonga, but rather should use their Canyengue. Turns out that was a bit of a problem, as many people have forgotten their Canyengue, or worse, may never have learned any.
When you go to Buenos Aires, leaders may ask you if you dance Canyengue. There is likely going to be Canyengue music played. There is Canyengue music often played here. Once you know Canyengue, it will be as difficult for you to watch people dance tango to it as it is to see people dance milonga to tango. Canyengue will help you to interpret the music, and be more playful in your dancing. In other words, CANYENGUE IS IMPORTANT!!!, So, for the next several weeks, we will be concentrating on Canyengue in Thursday night classes, 8:00PM.
I'm getting some pressure to resume the Following for Leaders class - that will happen soon. Watch for it!
Last week we had a journalist with the Wall Street Journal stop in to the Tuesday Night Milonga. You never know who's going to be here! Don't miss it - come and hang out, dance a little and have some fun with your tango!
