One last week before Milonga Month! We'll start milonga on Thursday in the advanced class,
because I would like to get a lot covered with the advanced students in milonga this month.
So this week on Tuesday we will finish up on the techniques and the possibilities of the
ocho cortado and other clockwise turns, then next week it's milonga.

If you have been away from tango, or considering starting, Milonga Month is the time. Many
of my best students started with milonga, and of course my students are my best
advertisement. Milonga is great for leaders because it's all about the feel and technique,
without muddying the dance with lots of moves. For followers, the speed of milonga helps
your quickness, while reducing anticipation. If you have been in tango for awhile, but are
still uncomfortable with milonga, you'll make great strides in your tango if you work on
your milonga.

Milonga Martes (Tuesday party) is going strong! Lots of fresh fruit, which always reminds
me of Buenos Aires. And lots of vino tinto, which also reminds me of Buenos Aires. Oh, and
then there's the great dancers!

Looking for some shoes? One of my students brought some back from BA last week. Sizes are
8-9. Come check them out - they're going fast!

No, this Thursday is not the 1st Thursday of the month, so it is not Babalu's night. Next
week.

Several of my students are attending the tango open practica Monday nights from 8:00-10pm
at Oddfellows Hall, 2382 Hampden Ave. St. Paul, MN. It is a great place to practice in a
low pressure setting. $3 For more info: email Lindsay at orrxx058 at umn.edu or call
651.249.1433. (One comment here: I've been getting complaints from beginning dancers that
they are being lectured by their partners in practicas, and even worse, on the dance floor.
I wish I had the ability to stop this, but teachers have less control than you think. If
you don't like it, tell them you'd just like to practice. Sometimes people forget, and a
gentle reminder is appreciated)
