I need to know exactly how many people are going, so if you ahve not made
your reservation with a deposit I will need you to do that before July
10th. Here are the details again:
(Blues Class tonight: Location of the after-class outing is Valley
Lounge 3385
Sibley Memorial Hwy, Eagan (Hwy 13 & Yankee Doodle Road))
We will be leaving around November 6th and staying for a month (Through
Thanksgiving). You can arrive on the same day, or later if you need to. Some
people stay for only 10 days,
some 4 weeks. You can stay for as long as you like! I'll be there to show
you around, provide information and tips, and guide you to the best deals
and make sure that you are
spending your time, money and energy in the best way possible.
We rent a communal house, so that we can have parties, a practice floor, a
sound system and a kitchen, essential for getting the most out of your
trip. How much for a room in the
house? The average is $350/week. It depends on if you are sharing a room or
need a single. (The
deposit is 25% of that, and is due July 10st.) This includes a welcoming
party where you will meet my BsAs friends and get an introduction to the
culture and codes of BA. (And
dance!) It also includes my assistance in navigating the city, and finding
the best milongas, lessons, steaks, massages, facials, shoes, side trips or
whatever else you want
to indulge in. I have had people able to save more than the cost of the trip
with the medical or dental savings, and of course get much more out out of
the trip with the assistance of someone who goes so regularly. We also have
a big party on Thanksgiving day, introducing my Argentine friends to this
American holiday.
Here is a quote from a student who is currently in Buenos Aires:
Observations:
"1. Lois' focus on connection, close embrace, and good technique of
classic moves is PERFECT preparation for general milongas. From the
beginning, I've never felt uncomfortable or out of place on the floor.
The whole milonga scene is much less scary than I had thought from
people's description. Cabaceo is straight-forward. People are
friendly. I haven't had trouble at all getting dances. Those of you who
haven't been here will be plenty popular if you work at it a bit."
I have been arranging tango trips to Buenos Aires for many years now, and I
love showing this beautiful city to my students. Buenos Aires tango is
incredible, but the trip is so
much more than that! Let me help you understand and fit in to the BsAs
cultural and dance scene better. The food, the people, the shopping, the
parties, the romance...just ask the
many local tangueros who have come with
me.<http://mndance.com/mailman/listinfo/bsas_mndance.com>
You may have heard about the inflation in Buenos Aires. It is true that the
prices are
going up, but it is not as expensive as the first time I went in 1998.
Especially anything
tango-related is a lot more. I have seen the same pair of shoes at a tango
store for 320
pesos as are for sale at a shoe store for 160. But BA is still a bargain,
and it is certain
that the price will not be any better than it is now. Let's go!

P.S. I always recommend you go with a group, but if you can't, be sure you
sign up for my groups and some privates, so that you can dance like a
porteno.
