The concentration on vals is paying off, I think. I see a little more
attention to the music when my students are dancing. That could not make me
happier!
As we get closer to the trip to Buenos Aires, we will start concentrating on
the dance technique that you will need to dance in Buenos Aires (or the
Pasta Bar!) Turns and compact moves, musicality and clean footwork are
really important for both leaders and followers.
This Saturday July 28th is the long-anticipated Blues Dancing and Dancing
Tango to the Blues seminar. This night, with the lesson and then the dance
outing afterwards, is so fun that it is the most-requested night that I do.
Dancing to the blues is getting more and more popular. I will start with
Tango to the Blues (and other alternative music) at 7 PM. Blues music has
many similarities to tango, and sometimes is more approachable than tango
because our ears are more familiar to it. Then we'll start on the Blues
Dancing at 8PM. Blues Dancing is a fairly new dance that allows us to
interpret slow blues music with dance. It is deceptively easy - kind of like
tango! In other words, it may take a while for it to get easy.
$15 for one class, $25 for both.
Class held at: 3142 1st Ave S. Minneapolis, MN 55408 Cost is $15. Bring
your favorite beverage to enjoy during class. I haven't yet decided where we
will go afterwards.
Don't forget the Following for Leaders class every Monday. Besides being a
great value for guys practicing their following ($10), leaders who just want
to practice can come for free. Learning to follow is essential for leaders -
especially those who like to help their followers. I have heard so often men
giving women bad advice on how to follow, because they don't have any
understanding of what is involved. Get a dose of both knowledge and humility
- your followers will love you for it!
