Saturday, June 13th: Club Swing dance at Social Dance Studio in Mpls.
Lesson at 7pm. Dance 8-11pm. $10. Announcement: This is the start of the
Open DJ contest. Sign up for a 20 minute time slot to DJ. There will be 5
spots per dance over the next 3 months. At the end of each night all
dancers will vote for their favorite DJ. The winner of each night will be given
a free pass to the remaining Open DJ contest Club Swings. On Sept. 12th,
all three winning DJs will duke it out for the grand prize title of Top
Local Amateur DJ of the Twin Cities. Contact Todd at Social Dance Studio to
sign up.
Saturday, June 13th: Havin' a Ball singles dance at the Fridley VFW.

Announcement:
Our sincere sympathies go out to the family of Jim Becker, a popular West
Coast Swing coach in Chicago, IL for the death of his 2 year old daughter.
Below is their story:

As some of you may already know, our beautiful baby girl Jenna was
admitted to the hospital at 1:30am on Friday March 29th. We are very sad to let
you know that Jenna passed away on June 2nd at 2:45pm. She originally
went to the hospital for a high fever and seizure. The Dr.'s believed it was
Febrile Seizure brought on by the spike in her temperature which was 104.
She was put on a ventilator until Friday afternoon. When she woke up
she was able to say a few things, Daddy, baby and bark like a dog. We
thought things were going to be fine. She was experiencing left side paralysis
which can happen after a seizure. The Dr's were confident that she would
be fine the paralysis would go away quickly. Her fever continued to be
high but finally broke on Monday. Jenna however had a really bad night. She
was not alert anymore and started having more seizures. They were worse
than the first one. She had about 20 seizures on Tuesday night after 3
differnt MRI's and was finally moved back to ICU. Her respiratory system
started to fail so they put her back on a ventilator. On Wednesday morning
they did another EEG and it showed that there was no brain activity. The CT
scan showed that there was more swelling and a hernia. After a final
brain death test she was pronounced dead at 2:45 on June 2nd. All tests were
run through Children's Memorial Hospital and all came back okay. They are
yet to figure out what exactly caused this to happen to her brain.
Hopefully, we will know more in a few weeks.
Jenna was a very sweet and healthy little girl. When she went to bed
that night she was fine. She was always happy and the light of our life. We
are going to miss her dearly. Your thoughts and prayers are all we ask
for at this very trying time.
The wake will be held on Friday at Malec and Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N.
Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646. Visitation will be from 2-9pm. The
Funeral will be on Saturday at 10:00am at Malec and Sons Funeral Home. She
will be buried at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
