GENERAL NEWS

GREETINGS FROM BUENOS AIRES! 80+ degrees here. Matinee milongas go from 3 pm
til 8 or 10 pm, evening milongas start at 9, 10, or 11 pm and run til 2,3 or
4

am! There are at least ten to pick from everyday.It's amazing to see all the
85 year-old-people doing Arg.tango,salsa,and swing at the milonga venues. I
was

at a small club where the men had to watch the football(soccer) game before
they would dance.  Boy was I steamed! Finally, one old man asked me to
tango. I

did a couple fancy steps. He was so shocked to see someone from Minnesota do
anything that he had to go tell all the other men!'Was in one other little

place frequented by the locals (portenos) and helped a little old tanguera
celebrate her birthday.  She passed out the best peach cobbler as a treat-
proof

of B.A. friendliness.  The hostess was quite a chubby woman,but did a great
dance demo with an instructor showing her beautiful, precise footwork
despite

her size!  Yes, there are young dancers also.  My latest fan,Ricardo,is only
28 years old from B.A.!! I've had fantastic dances also with a man from
Italy

and one from Seattle. Great cup of espresso coffee served here always with a
cookie on the side. Big steak dinner for less than $20 with plenty leftover
to

bring home. Sandwiches in bakeries have all the crusts cut off.
Professional dog walkers on the street walk about ten dogs at a time and the
dogs all seem

to get along!
