Here's what we have for February so far!
Dance Parties:
Friday, February 1st: Country & Swing dance with a Mardi Gras theme at On
Your Toes, St. Louis Park. We will provide the beads and music, you provide
the shoes & fun! Line dance review at 7:15pm, Couples lesson 7:30-8:00pm.
Dance 8:00-12:00. $8 per person. (1st & 3rd Fridays of every month). The
dance will be in the front OYT ballroom, but please use the back Retro door.
Friday, February 1st: Classic Ballroom (Plymouth)- 7:10pm, two 30 min.
lessons (one beginner, one bronze & up), practice party from 8:00-9:00pm. $15
per person, or $10 for party only. Staff available to dance with. (1st & 3rd
Fridays of every month). For the month of February, the newcomer lesson
will be Cha-Cha by Laudyna Borowicz, and the bronze class will be foxtrot by

Friday, February 1st: Latin (Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Rumba, Cha-Cha)
dancing at Cinema Ballroom, hosted by Social Dance Studio. Latin Mix lesson at
8:00pm. Dancing at 9:00pm. $15 for both, $10 dance only.
Friday, February 1st: Variety dance at Blue Moon Ballroom in Rochester–
Swing, Latin, Jazz, Blues, Soft Rock, and Ballroom music. Lesson 7:30pm, Dance
8-11pm. $8/$6.
Friday, February 1st: Alfalpha Males country band starts at 9:30pm at Inn
Kahoots in Hamel, MN (763) 478-6070.
Friday, February 1st: Country & variety dance at SOS Club in Oakdale.
Line dance lesson by Rose Lemmer at 7:30pm and at 9 or 9:30pm by Lynn Card. $6
includes bottled water and munchies. Pizza and cheese burgers available for

Saturday, February 2nd: Metro Variety Dance at Retro Ballroom of On Your
Toes. Cha-Cha lesson by Michael Bang 7:30pm. Dance with DJ David Olson

the Eagles Club (at 25th & 25th) in Minneapolis. Lesson at 7:15pm. Dance
7:40-10:30pm. $6 members, $10 nonmembers. (1st & 3rd Sundays of every
month).

Saturday, February 9th: Tango Society of MN hosts their Argentine Tango
dance at On Your Toes School of Dance in St. Louis Park. Lesson 8:00-9:00pm,
Dance 9:00pm-1:00am. Live music tonight. (2nd Saturday of every month).
Saturday, February 9th: Havin’ a Ball Singles Valentine’s Dance (but
couples welcome too!) at Bloomington VFW to City Lights Band. Rumba lesson by
Esther 7:30pm. Dance 8:30-12:30. $12 per person.
Saturday, February 9th: Classic Ballroom’s Showcase: Classico Romantica ,
7:00-10:00pm, choreographed routines, free style dances at all levels, social
dancing, professional show, and hors d’ oeuvres. $15 per person, call to

Mpls). All amateur levels and age groups are encouraged to compete as a couple or

Free to all current members and those who join tonight, otherwise $10 per
person. POTLUCK! Please bring a dish to share. ELECTIONS! Members vote
for new 2008-2009 Board of Directors. Café Bailar is a registered non-profit

Dance Announcements:
Dancer, Sam Stinson died Saturday in a car accident. He was known as “The
Hustle King.” He currently lived in Carrollton, Texas, but formerly from the
Twin Cities and was a dance instructor at Shakopee Ballroom many years ago.
He had been in the Twin Cities for at least the last month or so dancing
often at Retro Ballroom– country dances and Café Bailar dances. Visitation next
Tuesday 5:00-7:00pm, with memorial service at 7:00pm, KOK Funeral Home, 1201
Portland Ave, St. Paul Park. (651) 459-2875.
