Announcements:
 
Jim  Belzer passed away on Dec. 30th.  He was the founder of East Meets West  
Dance Club held at West Medicine Lake Community Club in Plymouth, as well as 
on  the founding board of Café Bailar Dance Club which still exists today.  
Jim  was a Country 2-Step and West Coast Swing Dance Instructor.  He and James  
Wood used to hold “Jim & James parties” too.  Jim Belzer’s funeral will  be 
held on Wed. Jan. 2nd at 2:00pm at United Hebrew Brotherhood Cemetery Chapel  
at 70 1/2 Street & Thomas in Richfield, 612-871-1234.  (You can view  his 
obituary in the Jan. 1st Star Tribune).   Jim died of cancer at 64  years old. 
ERV  Dance studio, owned by Eliecer Ramirez-Vargas (former Dance Director of 
Arthur  Murray), is moving his current Minnetonka studio to expand into a 
bigger  space!  ERV Dance studio will take over the old Foster’s Dancesport Studio 
 at 816 1/2 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN 55343 (upper level of Mainstreet Bar &  
Grill) effective February 1st, 2008.  Independent Instructors will not be  
teaching out of this space anymore unless special arrangements are made with  
Eliecer Ramirez-Vargas, same with social dance organizations.   Congratulations 
Eliecer!  We look forward to watching you grow even  more! 
Lois  Donnay is organizing a group of dancers to watch the tango show at 
Hopkins  Center for the Arts (see listing under Jan. 12th).  If you’d like to sit  
with her group, email her and get the group rate by Wed. Jan. 2nd–

Starks  Saloon off of Hwy 55 & Dodd Rd will start Country dance nights on  
Wednesdays, first dance being on Jan. 9th, 7:30pm, $3 cover, DJ Bob Wood.   Do 
not bring in water or food (purchase there to keep cover charge prices  down). 
January  26—February 2nd, 2008, “Liberty of the Seas” dance cruise to the 
Western  Caribbean with the Dancers Studio of St. Paul.  The cruise includes  
lessons, workshops, dance parties, and games.  Reserve  now!

Friday,  January 4th:  *New  (added) Country variety dance at Retro 
Ballroom/On Your Toes in St. Louis  Park.  Lesson 7:30-8:00pm.  Dance with DJ Ed 
Everson 8:00-12:00.   $8 per person.  (1st Friday of every month will be DJ’d by Ed  
Everson.  3rd Friday of every month will still be DJ’d by Skip  Schletz). 
Friday,  January 4th:   *New, Classic Ballroom (Plymouth) hosts a Newcomer 
Night, 7:10pm, two 30 min.  beginner lessons, practice party from 8:10-8:40pm.  
$15 per person, or  you’re in free if you bring a guest!  (1st & 3rd Fridays 
of every  month). 
Friday,  January 4th:   Latin (Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Rumba, Cha-Cha) 
dancing at Cinema Ballroom,   hosted by Social Dance Studio.  Latin Mix lesson at
