My friend, Jackie Maddix, the "full bodied" blues queen at KFAI radio 
has recommended Shaw's at 1528 University NE (near Broadway).  On Monday 
nights she hosts an open jam from 8:30 pm until 12:30 in which she plays 
an active role in determining what is played.  I have not been to Shaw's 
yet, but others have said it is very good music.  Jackie tells me that 
Shaw's has a small dance floor.
