I usually send out my weekly dance update on Wednesdays,  however there is a 
funeral announcement that needs to get out by Tuesday- Bob's  wife, owner of 
Medina Ballroom.  See below.
 
Also, I finally had 4 hours to dedicate to uploading  pictures from our

This Wednesday we're offering FREE SALSA dance lessons at On  Your Toes in 
St. Louis Park.  Every 6 weeks we offer one free night.   7pm for beginners.  
8pm for intermediate/advanced.  Taught by James  Wood.  For directions, visit

Wife of Bob  Raskob, owner of the Medina Ballroom’s wife died.  There is 
another  visitation for Geri Tues., Jan. 22nd at 2pm, and the funeral is Tuesday, 
Jan.  23rd at 3pm, at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus in Medina.  Details 
 were in Sunday’s Star Tribune obituary.  I received a copy of it from  
Betty. 
Twin Cities  Rebels Swing Dance Club has a temporary location starting in 
April: The  Minneapolis Eagles Club at 25th & 25th.  There is a cash bar,  
non-smoking, and a fenced-in parking lot.  Harmonies Dance Center will  continue to 
look for another location in the Bloomington area.  Then,  Rebels may move 
back there if or when they’re open again. 
Thursday,  January 25th:  As  many of you know, I grew up in Bloomington and 
Olson Middle School (7th &  8th graders) have been learning Waltz, Foxtrot, 
and Lindy swing.  James and  I (Tricia) are doing a few Smooth & Rhythm dance 
demos, as well as judging  their student dance competition, starting at 10:15am 
(and lasting up to 2  hours).  If you are available to perform (no costumes 
necessary) and stay  to judge the competition with James and Tricia Wood, please 
email me or Yvonne  Viehman at danvman at aol.com for directions and more info.  
This is a  volunteer event and represented by USA Dance-MN (formerly USABDA). 
 
Friday,  January 26th:   MNWCS Club Member Appreciation dance at B-Dale Club 
(2100 N Dale St),  Roseville.  Lesson by Lynette Schwickerath 7:30-8:30pm.  
Dance with  DJ: Loren Greenberg 8:30-midnight.  Members are free/$8/nonmembers.  
 Join tonight for $8.50 for the remainder of their year (end of March) and 
get in  free.  Membership form posted on their website– see related links  page. 
Friday,  January 26th:   Waltz lesson 8-8:30pm, Open dancing 8:30-10:30pm at 
Cheek to Cheek studio in  Coon Rapids, with Heidi’s new co-owner: Claudio 
Gilardi.  $8, or $5 studio  students.  (763) 755-3644.  Every Friday in January. 
Friday,  January 26th:   “Havin’ a Ball” singles dance at the Fridley VFW 
(1040 Osborne Rd).  (763)  780-3694.  Featuring the Rockin’ Hollywoods.  Cha-Cha 
lesson by Curtis  LaDuke 7:30-8:30pm.  Dance 8:30pm-12:30am.  $10. 
Friday,  January 26th:  Bob  Benham’s Little Big Band Ballroom dance at 
Shakopee Ballroom.   8-11pm.  $8.00  No lesson. 
Friday  & Saturday, Jan. 26th & 27th:   Brett Michael & Western Breeze 
country band is playing at the Red Fox Tavern  in Lakeville. 
Saturday,  January 27th:  Café  Bailar (Ballroom & Latin variety) dance at On 
Your Toes School of Dance  (5810 W. 36th Street), St. Louis Park, MN 55416.  
Foxtrot lesson by Gary  & Carol Stroick 7:30-8:30pm.  Dance with D.J. David 
Olson  8:30-midnight.  $8/members.  $10/nonmembers. 
Saturday,  January 27th:   Havin’ a Ball singles Impromptu Ball, 8pm-12am.  
No lesson.  Band:  City Lights at North St. Paul American Legion (2678 E 7th 
Ave), (651)  777-3708. 
Sunday,  January 28th:  MS  Fundraiser dance at Harmonies sponsored by Rebels 
Swing Club, Jason Barnes, and  Jen Paycyga (“50 Mile Walker”).  2-5:00pm.   
All you can eat  chocolate buffet.  Suggested donation: $20 per person. 
Sunday,  January 28th:   Cajun & Zydeco dancing at Half Time Rec on Front 
Street in St. Paul, 8-11pm,  $5.  (Every Sunday evening). 
There is NO  Rebels Swing Dance the day/night of the Super Bowl.  It will be 
the  following week. 
Friday  & Saturday, Feb. 2nd & 3rd:   Brett Michael & Western Breeze country 
band is playing at the Red Fox Tavern  in Lakeville. 
Thursday,  February 1st:   Country Night featuring the Dreamers at Blue Moon 
Ballroom in Rochester  7:30-10pm, lesson at 7pm. 
Saturday,  February 3rd:   Metro Variety Dance at Harmonies Dance Center 
(10726 France Ave S),  Bloomington.  Rumba lesson by Brett & Melissa Stepan 
7:30-8:00pm.   Dance with DJ: David Olson 8:30-11:00pm.  $8, or $6 with any local 
dance  club membership card (i.e.. Café Bailar, USA-Dance, Rebels, etc).
