¡Hola Tangueras y Tangueras!
Just a reminder, this Saturday, Mandrágora Tango and the Tango Society
of Minnesota will host a fundraiser for <http://tchabitat.org>Twin
Cities' Habitat for Humanity on January 20th at the Eagles Aerie in
South Minneapolis (2505 E. 25th St. Plenty of free parking in back)
Rebecca Abas will give a lesson at 8, followed by dancing from 9 to
12:30 to music from Mandragora and DJ Dave Rost. We may even have a
demo from Tomas and Noel!
Pay whatever you want at the door! 100% of the proceeds will go to
Habitat for Humanity! 100% of your donation/cover charge will go to
Habitat. If you make out a check, Habitat will send you a tax-deductible
receipt. No one turned away for lack of funds. Please come out and help
the Tango community raise some funds for a worthy cause.
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian
housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and
homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of
conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races
and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in
need. Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses around the world,
providing more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities with
safe, decent, affordable shelter. A new Habitat house is completed
somewhere in the world every 24 minutes. Habitat for Humanity has one of
the lowest operating ratios of any charity out there, meaning that more
of each dollar donated goes to building houses rather than to overhead
expenses.
The members of Mandrágora all believe that Habitat is one of the most
worthy charities out there. Many of us have donated our time and money
to them. The Eagles Aerie has donated the room for the night and
Mandrágora, Rebecca Abas, Dave Rost and the Tango Society of Minnesota
are donating all the entertainment.
Please come out and dance, listen, drink, or whatever you like to do in
South Minneapolis on a cold Saturday night. We can guarantee that this
milonga will be more fun than whatever's on TV that night (even if you
have cable.)
