[MNDancers] Matt returns to work/Headaches and Fever are gone!

RE:  Brain Surgery for benign "Hemangioblastoma" performed  by Chief 
Neurologist Surgeon Dr. Mark Larkins @ Regions Hospital on Nov.  17th/Temperature and 
Headaches are GONE!
 
I want to thank everyone for their many prayers and over 200  e-mails of 
support for son, Matthew Schaefer.
 
Matt returned to work 1 week ago today at MN Dept of  Revenue.  It was 2 
months to the day he had his brain surgery.  He is  putting in 1/2 days for a week 
or so before returning to a full 40 hour  work week.  Kudos to MN DOR for 
their kindness and  understanding.  Praise the Lord.  
 
Matt is 80 to 85% recovered.  He reports that his  headaches and fever are 
gone.  He still has some minor medical issues like  head rotation which he says 
is improving.  His left to right is 150  degrees compared to the normal 180 
degrees.  His up and down motion is  improving to where he can get within 2" of 
his chin.  Upwards motion  is also a bit tight, as these core neck muscles 
were severed during the  operation.  
 
>From a postoperative weight of 139 pounds, he is attempting to  stabilize at 
his normal weight of 155 pounds.  He was so hungry to gain  weight, he was 
chowing down 3 bowels of cereal for breakfast.   Thankfully, his body is now 
saying no to that as he overshot his mark by a few  pounds.
 
His next MRI with a follow-up visit with Chief Neurologist  Mark Larkins will 
be this Spring.  There are no sign of the tumor  remaining in his brain.  Per 
John Hopkins University hospital, he appears  to be void of the von 
Hippel-Lindau syndrome of tangled up capillaries  forming blood rich tumors.  The 
results of the final Southern Blot  test is an outstanding issue.
 
Matt...you have come a long way on handling a scary and  difficult medical 
issue.  Continued thanks to his girlfriend Tiffany  who has steadfastly been by 
his side during these challenging  times.
