Wednesday, Feb. 1st, 2006:
America's Ballroom Challenge, 7pm, channel 2 (TPT 2) Part 1 of a two-part
dance competition. 24 ballroom dance couples face off to find out who has
the grace, style, and talent to earn the title America's Best. Hosted by
actress Marilu Henner and Latin-dance champion Tony Meredith.

Friday, February 3rd, 2006:
Country & Swing dance at Shakopee Ballroom. Line dance lesson 7:40-8pm.
Couples dance lesson 8-8:20pm. Dance with DJ: Bob Wood 8:20-midnight.
Salsa dance at Cinema Ballroom.
First Friday of the Month Dance at Cheek to Cheek Ballroom Dance Studio in
Coon Rapids. Waltz Lesson 8pm. Dance 8:45-11pm. Studio students $5. General
$8.

Saturday, February 4th, 2006:
The Groove- this original dance venue features modern music, timeless moves,
a fresh attitude, your peers, and your ideas. 8pm-midnight. $4
students/$6. Includes: 8:00 rumba lesson, 8:30 tango lesson, 10:30 hustle lesson, and
on-call instructors available all night long. Cinema Ballroom (1560 St. Clair
Ave), St. Paul, MN 55105. Ballroom, Latin, Swing variety.
Metro Variety Dance (Ballroom, Latin, Swing, etc.) at Harmonies Dance
Center, Bloomington. Lesson 7:30pm. Dance with DJ: David Olson 8-11pm. $8 ($6
with proof of any dance club membership).
Blue's Kings Band at Shakopee Ballroom. West and east coast swing, cha-cha,
and hustle. DJ Bob Wood will be playing a varity of dance music from 8pm 'til
band starts at about 9pm, and during the band breaks. Food will be available
7:30-9:30pm. Dates are Feb. 4th & 18th, March 18th & April 15th (all
Saturday nights).

Rebels Swing Dance at Harmonies Dance Center, Bloomington. 7-10:30pm.
Super Bowl day- wear your jeans and jerseys, and bring a snack to share.

Dance Lessons:
It's not too late to join... Standard Group Class at On Your Toes School of
Dance in St. Louis Park, Tuesday nights, $60 per person, can be paid at the
desk or by phone. To secure a spot on the list and to assure classes will be

Basic 1 Series– 7:00-9:00 starting Wednesday, February 1st. Three week
series.
Cost- $36/members, $50/non-members, $20/retakes. Annual membership $25.
Registration at the door. No partner needed.
**Prerequisites for Basics:
To take Basic 2, you must complete Basic 1.
To take Basic 3, you must complete ALL of the Basic 2 modules (Tuck Turns,
Whips and Six Count Variations) which can be taken in ANY order.

2006 (9th annual) Star of the North Competition- Volunteer Information:
February 17-19.
Co-volunteer coordinators: Sharon Kennedy and Mike Jones. The competition
will be at the McNamara Alumni Center Memorial Hall at the University of
Minnesota. The volunteer shifts are as follows and the times can vary slightly
depending on how the competition is going:
-Friday Afternoon, 12pm-2pm, Floor Set-up.
-Friday Evening, 5:30pm-12am, Competition.
-Saturday Morning, 8am-1pm, Competition.
-Saturday Afternoon, 1:30pm-6pm, Competition.
-Saturday Evening, 7:30pm-12am, Comp./Floor Takedown.
